Abstract
SMPS losses consist of switching loss, conduction loss, and core loss. In case of a light load the switching loss takes the most things in SMPS, and then the max currents should be limited to decrease audible noise. Consequently, to increase the efficiency of the SMPS at light load, the tow switching frequency and the current limit of the SMPS have the good effect for low power consumption. This paper describes an improved burst mode operation. It shows how to implement the burst mode through the feedback pin without additional parts in SMPS device.
