Abstract
A large area (approximately 730 cm/sup 2/), low fluence (/spl sim/1 kA/cm/sup 2/) electron beam has been produced on the Casino simulator. The beam is extracted from a 10 cm diameter cathode, through a 1 mm thick titanium anode foil, and transported to a target volume approximately one meter downstream. The beam is immersed in a DC magnetic field of up to 4 T in the diode region, decreasing to 0.4 T in the target chamber. Beam currents ranging from 250 kA to 900 kA have been measured in the diode, with diode voltages from 500 kV to 1.1 MV, depending on the anode-cathode gap spacing.
