Abstract
Summary form only given. Summary from only given. Compact upconversion pumped solid state lasers are one of the most active areas of laser research and development today. The efficiency of upconversion mechanisms was successfully demonstrated on a number of rare earth doped crystals with metastable levels including Nd-doped laser crystals.
