Abstract
Summary form only given. Laser materials with broad emission band have been intensively investigated for application in diode-pumped ultrashort pulse lasers. In this work we use an oxide crystal with disordered structure Nd/sup 3+/:Li/sub 3/Ba/sub 2/Gd/sub 3/(MoO/sub 4/)/sub 8/ (Nd/sup 3+/:LBGM) which has shown efficient CW and Q-switch lasing. The Nd/sup 3+/:LBGM laser crystal has a broad emission band (FWHM /spl sim/12 nm) with two pronounced maxima near 1.061 /spl mu/m and 1.066 /spl mu/m. Broad absorption spectrum (max at 806.5 nm) and relatively high Nd/sup 3+/ ion concentration (/spl sim/4% at) in the used crystal give us a possibility of using low power laser diodes for pumping.
