Abstract
Holistic schema matching is a paradigm that takes all the schemas as input and finds all the matches among the input schemas. Its novelty as an active research topic in schema integration scope tackles the challenge of large scale matching. Matching the complete input schema may lead long execution times, and also to achieve quality result may be difficult when the search space is large. The importance of search space reduction that is to improve the matching performance has motivated this study. This paper aims to review the existing methods on holistic schema matching that used clustering techniques and compared in terms of its efficiencies and effectiveness. This review is important to leverage the role of clustering techniques in holistic schema matching for data integration.
