Abstract :
TFMCC (TCP-friendly multicast congestion control) is a recently proposed protocol for multicast congestion control. TFMCC employs an equation to determine the rate of the Multicast Source. The equation was originally derived for the TCP-friendly rate control protocol TFRC, which is a unicast protocol. In this work, we evaluate TFMCC with a new equation derived from an analytical model that abstracts the behavior of a multicast source controlled according to the additive increase and multiplicative decrease (AIMD) strategy. Experimental results show tremendous performance improvement without affecting the TCP-fairness of the protocol.
