Abstract :
To support the fast growing demand for transmission capacity, optical label switching technology (OLS) seems to be an attractive candidate because it allows fast switching capability. In this paper, we propose an OLS ring network built on a novel node architecture allowing better QoS provision. We introduce a packet segmentation approach allowing a prioritized fiber delay line (FDL) buffering technique. We also develop a theoretical model and a simulation for evaluating the proposed network performance using a conservation law and a queuing network model.
