Abstract :
A Second Order Zero Crossing Digital Phase Locked LOOP (ZCDPLL) with time varying loop gains is applied to QPSK detection. The ZCDPLL consists of an adaptive Kalman estimator which estimates the phase offsets of a received data bearing passband signal. The ZCDPLL digital filter gains are updated using the Recursive Least Squares (RLS) algorithm. The performance of the use of adaptive ZCDPLL for QPSK detection is evaluated and compared with fixed gains case. Simulation results for the variable gain ZCDPLL compared to a fixed gains show the improved the probability of error performance.
