Abstract
The performance of the optical satellite communication links is degraded in atmospheric environment. Antenna aperture averaging method is studied to improve system performance for on-off keying (OOK) modulation scheme. Further, link budgeting for uplink and downlink is made for a distance of 400 km. It is observed that the link margin is about 4.2 dB for downlink and 3 dB for uplink at 1 W transmitted power level.
