Abstract :
The main challenge for multimedia content providers is how to deliver their data, over lossy networks, to consumers with a reasonably good quality of experience. In this paper, a comprehensive analysis is suggested to investigate the effect of frames resolution, compression rate, and video quality on the video Quality of Experience (QoE) under different network packet loss conditions and on various motion types. This is achieved by building a real-time video streaming test-bed based on the Real-Time Media Flow Protocol (RTMFP). Three different video sequences with slow, medium, and fast motions are considered in this study. The obtained results revealed that video quality degrades sharply with increasing frames resolution and only slightly with higher frames compression rate. Furthermore, the quality of slow-motion video is found to be more immune to packet loss than that of the fast-motion video.
