Abstract
SBDSS can facilitate operational decision-making in manufacturing environments by helping the decision maker to organize complexity, incorporate quantitative information, knowledge and intuition, consider trade-offs among competing criteria and/or alternatives, synthesize to determine the best alternatives, and communicate the rationale for selecting a strategy to others. SBDSS can be used to supply an effective operational strategy every time there is a change in the objectives of the decision makers and/or the conditions of the production line or characteristics of the products. The SBDSS framework and general architecture are described, and the functionality of different modules of SBDSS, including the user interface, is discussed. An example is presented to demonstrate how the system works
