Abstract
In this letter, we are interested on all-optical wavelength conversion and especially that using the semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs). We describe the different mechanism of wavelength conversion and especially based on optical switching and optical mixing and we focus our interest on conversion based on nonlinear effect as cross gain modulation (XGM) and cross phase modulation (XPM). Our aim is to optimize the operating point assuring the highest quality of optical converted signal. We have chosen the excursion ratio of the converted as our figure of merit.
