Abstract :
Summary form only given. We have measured the influence of gamma-irradiation with a dose of 100 krad from a Co-60 source on the room temperature absorption spectra of YAG and Nd:YAG laser crystals, some of them codoped with Ce/sup 3+/ and Cr/sup 3+/. We therefore placed two identically prepared samples (one irradiated and one as-grown) in the light paths of a two beam absorption spectrophotometer. The spectra were taken in the range 200-1800 nm.
