Abstract :
Absolute frequency measurements of the /sup 88/Sr/sup +/ single trapped ion 5s/sup 2/S/sub 1/2/-4d/sup 2/D/sub 5/2/ reference transition at 445 THz were performed including a preliminary phase-coherent measurement linking the single ion transition to a Cs standard. An observed transition resolution below 250 Hz (FWHM) was obtained.
