Abstract
The CORDIC algorithm has been widely used in numerous hardware applications to solve different mathematical operations. This work presents some considerations to be taken into account while designing a specific purpose CORDIC module. To develop this idea, it has been made an analysis of different accuracy errors generated using this module, designed as an example case for a system able to compute the eigenvalues and eigenvectors on reconfigurable hardware. Accuracy errors have been obtained by comparison with results using floating point data. Thus, the approximation of our system can be modeled. Depending on the kind of errors, different alternatives are proposed in order to reduce them or in some cases, to eliminate them. Another important point of the paper is to analyze the criteria to be followed in the parameterization of CORDIC hardware (HW) modules.
