Abstract
A novel model useful to simulate single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) is here presented. The developed description uses both voltage-controlled analog switch and Verilog-A description codes and it overcomes the drawbacks of the models reported in literature. Moreover, it exhibits a better fitting with the experimental results extracted from real devices. Many Spectre simulations confirmed the validity of the developed model.
