Abstract
In this paper, a new point coordination function (PCF) scheme, NPCF is presented, which is based on CSMA/CA with equal backoff window in all stations rather than polling mechanism, it can decrease delay and improve throughput, and is also different with distributed coordination function (DCF). NPCF is motivated by the following ideas: in the access method of PCF, a point coordinator (PC) performing the role of the polling master knows some information of the network, such as the number of active stations, the performance of NPCF based on CSMA/CA is better than PCF based on polling by using these information. Analysis and simulation results validate our conclusion.
