Abstract :
In recent years, the very large scale integration techniques applied to the manufacture of the new on-chip radio transceivers has carried some inherent product´s imperfections. As a result, various undesirable deviations with respect to the specifications are expected to take place during the operation of these radio transceivers, especially due to imperfections on the Analog Front End (AFE) at radio frequencies (RF). Examples of this type of imperfections are: I/Q imbalance, Nonlinear distortion, amplifier nonlinearities, etc. In this paper, an overview of the compensation techniques for AFE imperfections is presented. Thus, the efforts to correctly compensate the three more important impairments on the AFE are reviewed.
