Abstract :
A new language for interface description, named OwL, and its applications are proposed. The purpose of OwL is to reuse IPs. By specifying the functionality of the IP as an interface protocol, the IP can be used as a blackbox. The full interface specification of an SDRAM, including refresh control, is represented by 205 lines of OwL description. Two applications of Ow L are also described. The first application is a waveform generator for the on-line manual. The second application is a means of checking the connectability of two IPs
