Abstract :
A new olfactory display system that can generate odor distribution along a two-dimensional screen is reported. In the proposed system, airflows generated by four fans are made to deflect multiple times by making them collide with each other. Thus, an airflow directed toward the user from a certain position on the screen is generated. By introducing odor vapor into the airflows, the odor distribution is generated as if the odor were spreading from the airflow collision point on the screen. Results of odor concentration measurements and sensory tests are presented to demonstrate the proposed olfactory display system.
