Abstract :
This paper deals with the application of digital signal processing in power electronics and power systems applications. Particularly, it abords the design and implementation of low frequency digital filters or controllers under high sampling rates. Special attention is deserved to the quantization problems on discrete systems using fixed-point digital signal processors (DSP). An improved solution for digital processing using the unusual γ-transform instead of the conventional Z-transform is considered. Since it is very frequent to use some kind of tuned filter in the mentioned applications, the discussion has been directed to the implementation of practical digital filters. Simulations and experimental results using a 16 bits DSP illustrate the superior performance of delta digital filters in open or closed-loop systems.
