Abstract :
Summary form only given. Nanosecond optical parametric oscillators (OPO) show unique features of wavelength tunability. They can be used in particular for the spectroscopy of many molecules in the range of 3.3 /spl mu/m-3.4 /spl mu/m (C-H bond absorption lines). They are well suited for LIDAR and sensing applications such as photoacoustic spectroscopy. To reduce the natural linewidth of our LiNbO/sub 3/ OPO (1 cm/sup -1/), we have inserted a Fabry-Perot interferometer into the cavity.
