Abstract :
Fuel cells are being considered as electrical sources for a number of different applications such as hybrid electric vehicles, uninterruptible power supplies, and distributed generation. The subject of this paper is the design and implementation of an isolated Cuk converter for a powering solid state radar T/R module array from a fuel cell. An array draws a pulsed current with a duty cycle of 10% at a frequency of 10 kHz from the converter. The prototype converter is capable of supplying 80 A current pulses while satisfying the design specification of no more than 50 mV ripple.
