Abstract :
Summary form only given. The paper addresses the unexpected increase and longer persistence of ozone concentration in the atmosphere due to heavy traffic during the summer late evening hours. One of the main results of the present work is the finding of a significant increase in O/sub 3/ concentration due to traffic conditions, despite the low photochemical activity. The present measurements represent a step forward in the understanding of ozone dynamics. They will certainly stimulate further investigations in the dynamics of urban atmosphere pollution.
