Abstract
In this paper the use of a fuzzy neural net for stator earth fault detection is presented. A generator model is simulated using EMTDC software. Earth faults are simulated between 0.1% to 100% distance points from the generator neutral. The combination of both EMTDC simulation and neural network presented in this paper introduces a new, complementary method that performs better in instances where the interpretation of traditional methods is somewhat dubious.
