  • Abstract
    A new automatic defect detection method for the steel cord conveyor belt in X-ray imaging system was studied. Detecting the state of conveyor belt is important in production process such as coal mine concerning the safety and efficiency of coal production. In order to automatically detect the conveyor belt defects that often appear such as perforation, scratch, corrosion, broken end and joint end of steel cord, a method named regular bands (RB) was introduced. The RB method is based on the idea of periodicity. A description of the RB method with definitions, procedures, and explanations was given. And three kinds of defects of steel cord conveyor belt samples were used in the evaluation and a high detection success rate was achieved. This method for defect detecting can greatly improve the performance of processing. And the results show that the method is effective.
