Abstract :
A 2 V, 6 mA, 1.3 GHz LC-tank VCO, realized in a digital CMOS process, is presented. The tank is made of a metal-oxide-silicon varactor and a series connection of a bondwire and a spiral inductor. This solution enables one to tune all component variations, while gain is maintained constant within ±20% of the nominal value. The measured phase noise at 600 kHz from 1.3 GHz carrier is -119 dbc/Hz
