Abstract :
Distributed energy systems involve localized sources contributing to a common power grid. An issue facing distributed energy systems is a suitable control scheme that enables to the greatest extent possible the potential scalability and robustness in distributed generation. One approach to controlling distributed energy systems is through multi-agent technology. By representing each power source and load as an autonomous intelligent agent, distributed coordination can be implemented where agents negotiate among themselves to satisfy power demand. An agent-based approach using contract-net coordination is demonstrated through software simulation, with the necessary communication and coordination structure to create a scalable and robust system.
