Abstract :
Mobile, multiple-hop packet radio networks must route packets through several radios in order to deliver packets to their destinations. A new metric is described for least-resistance routing, a routing protocol specifically designed for slow frequency-hop packet radio networks. The new metric, which is based on the Chernoff bound for the codeword error probability, not only accounts for the interference environment but also facilitates the detection of low-quality links. This metric gives improved network throughput and increased end-to-end success probability
