Abstract :
This paper deals with pragmatic 8-PSK turbo coded modulations based on a symbol based iterative turbo decoder. Both regular and irregular turbo codes are considered. Results show that the regular scheme can replace the well known turbo trellis coded modulations (TTCM). In fact, similar performance can be found using this scheme. Better performance is found using an irregular turbo code. Moreover, a classical turbo decoder is implemented instead of the particular decoder derived for TTCM where the systematic and the extrinsic information cannot be separated.
