Abstract :
This paper describes a communications system that employs frequency dehopping/rehopping (transparent to the user) and channelized filtering of individual signals on-board the satellite. Anti-jamming capability is obtained by frequency hopping over a spread signal bandwidth. Dedication of individual channels to each user network simplifies network control through elimination of the need for power balancing among simultaneous users of the same transponder. In hopping mode, the satellite is compatible with processing terminals. In nonhopping mode, the satellite can work with either processing or non-processing terminals
