Abstract :
As color information of a digital image depends on the camera device and illumination conditions, it will thus significantly impact applications requiring image processing algorithms. This paper proposes a simple scheme to correct image color from the effects of illumination- and device-dependence. The device profile function is developed by assuming that image color information in the RGB model is independent. To take the illumination-dependence effect into account, we developed the scheme by including lightness information obtained from the HSV model in the device profile function. The validity of the proposed scheme is proven with several experiments for various conditions. Euclidian distance is utilized for comparing the performance of the schemes. The results demonstrate that the proposed schemes can correct color efficiently with very simple calculations.
