Abstract
Design and analysis of n-stage switched-capacitor (SC)-based step-up DC/DC regulators using a current control scheme to adjust the charging trajectory of the capacitors are presented. Operation characteristics of the converter, including the maximum attainable output voltage and the selection of capacitor value, are investigated. By using the representative third-order state space model, static and dynamic behaviors and the closed loop transfer function are derived. A prototype of 30 W, 5 V/12 V, 2-stage converter has been built. Theoretical predictions are favorably verified with experimental measurements
