Abstract
Two main findings are reported. The first is an extension to the complex case of the stabilized hyperbolic Householder transformation. The second is a demonstration by computer simulations that this complex stabilized hyperbolic Householder transformation exhibits superior numerical behavior in beamforming applications relative to its conventional counterpart. The problem statement for stabilized complex downdating in adaptive beamforming is given. The complex version of the stabilized hyperbolic Householder transformation is derived, and it is explained why complex processing is necessary in adaptive beamforming. The formulation of the computer simulation is described, together with the result of a simulation example
