Abstract
The present status of the circulating fluidized bed technology combustion (CFB-technology) is commercially viable. CFB-boilers represent an advanced stage of development and have competitive advantages compared with the conventional pulverized-coal (PC) type of boilers. However, CFB-boilers are quite expensive as compared to the conventional PC-boilers, and for high-quality fuels CFB-technology does not always have certain benefits. The paper assesses technical and economical efficiency range for CFB- technology usage. The paper also provides assessment of optimal thermodynamic parameters of CFB-units depending on fuel. Influence of multivariable interactions of thermodynamic, technical, design and infrastructure restrictions are considered as well.
