Abstract
Electro-optic (EO) polymers are attractive for passive and active interconnections in electronic systems because they are compatible with standard processing and packaging conditions. We have an ongoing program to develop high temperature EO polymers jointly with the IBM Almaden Research Center. This effort is aimed at investigating various polymer backbone systems with both guest host and side chained active materials, in an effort to improve their temperature stability, EO coefficient, ease of processing, and device characteristics. The work is concentrated on directional coupler devices, fabricated from these materials
