Abstract
The application of point-to-multipoint TDMA (time division multiple access) subscriber radio to BETR (basic exchange telecommunictions radio) subscriber service is discussed. Using a new high-capacity system as an example, the TDMA technique is described, along with the key elements of the frame structure, voice encoding, and common channel signaling. The major hardware items are presented, and the resulting subscriber services (including full integrated services digital network capability) and performance are discussed. The design of the radio system and its contribution to performance and reliability are examined, and overall system maintenance and control are described
