  • Abstract
In this paper, we present a novel transmission-line approach to the static and dynamic analysis of multisection semiconductor lasers. The technique is generic and can be applied to any structure that includes several segments within the laser cavity. Each segment can be passive or active, and can be either uniform or include a periodic grating for feedback and frequency selectivity. The model uses a coupled-mode formulation combined with Floquet´s theorem to obtain a set of uncoupled Floquet modes that propagate in both directions through the confinement layer of the composite structure
