Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. Embedded systems continue attracting the attention of the scientific and technical community, with its many challenges on information technology and interdisciplinary aspects. In particular, since the last few years, many efforts are being devoted to problems related to distributed real-time systems, their design methodologies and implementation techniques. This trend is reflected also in the papers presented in this session, where three out of four are devoted to dealing with distributed systems, with some emphasis on the communication networks. "Restructurization of Control Scenarios," by T. Riismaa and I. Randvee. This paper, after an introduction on the basic concepts related to Discrete Event Systems, concentrates on a particular problem within the design of reactive embedded systems, namely that of optimal structurization. While accepted and presented during the Euromicro\´97 Conference, this paper was not received in time by the editor for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings. It is now presented here.
