Abstract
Collisionally pumped X-ray lasers have been demonstrated to have sufficient energy, and narrow bandwidth to make them one of the brightest laboratory X-ray sources available. Furthermore, with their relatively small source size and narrow divergence they have enough spatial and temporal coherence to be applied in interferometric applications. A program to develop plasma diagnostics based on the X-ray laser probing has been underway at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) for several years
