  • Abstract
ldquoCrdquo band satellite communication service introduced in Mongolia in 1971, and then established Intersputnik and Intelsat earth stations. Nowadays, satellite based international telephone, data, television, radio broadcasting and VSAT services have been penetrated in public and private sector of Mongolia. In the near future, Ku and Ka bands will be used for the Mongolian satellite communication systems. ldr To determine the dust storm parameters which have influence on microwave propagation in Mongolian meteorological conditions; ldr To develop a model for the calculation of microwave attenuation, phase shift and XPD in Earth-satellite link; ldr To estimate the required power margin for the compensation of microwave attenuation during the dust storm. In higher density dust storm area of Mongolia it should be kept power margin 1 dB up to 20 GHz and 3 dB at the frequencies higher than 20 GHz on the conditions that the dust storm speed is higher than 16 m/s or between 12.00 LST and 18.00 LST, from March to May; and it is recommended that hierarchical modulation technology is preferable to use in receiving side of the satellite system.
