Abstract :
Summary form only given. Short-pulse laser illumination can induce rapid changes in the structure of a solid. High-speed X-ray scattering techniques can be used to study the resulting dynamics in such "warmed" materials on the picosecond timescale. I will discuss our new technologies and results of recent experiments.
