Abstract
This paper investigates the network performance under the provision of predictive and prevailing travel information, in the form of the shortest path or the corresponding point to point travel time between the origin and destination of the traveler. A real time traffic estimation and prediction system is implemented to generate and evaluate these two information provision strategies. The two information provision strategies are compared in the conducted simulation experiments. Consistency and value of the anticipatory travel information are explored and discussed based on the simulation results.
