Abstract
The paper covers the results of the theoretical analysis of the ultimate kinematic characteristics of conducting projectiles on acceleration by an unsteady magnetic field and their dependence on the mass of projectiles and the acceleration distance. 1-D and 2-D problems are considered for the induction and railgun accelerators of conducting projectiles. Some formulae relating the maximum ultimate velocity and the kinetic energy of uniform projectiles with the projectile mass and acceleration distance are given.
