Abstract :
With the ever increasing complexity of embedded control systems, it is desirable to employ here real time operating system kernels to fulfill the requirements of stringent timing and resource constraints, and to customise the features of real time operating systems for different applications. To meet these requirements and support portability and re-usability, a platform independent model of real time operating systems is defined using the model driven architecture approach, which enables to re-use old designs in new applications. To this end, it is explored how operating system functions and properties can be specified with a platform independent model by employing a UML profile
