  • Abstract
The SD1000 Reliability Platform serves as a powerful analytical tool to predict and prevent service disruptions (SDs) in telecommunications power systems (telepower). A key component of the platform is an industry-specific reliability metric known as the SD1000. The metric dramatically improves the ability to measure network performance and to show up new trends. The paper describes capabilities for preventative maintenance and efficient capital deployment through a set of windows (SD scorecards) into asset system performance. These windows provide a stable measure of overall network reliability and critical cross-sections of the asset base. Each window can be used to monitor the impact on reliability of changes to the asset base and to provide advanced warning of adverse trends in levels of SDs. The paper outlines a number of innovations of the SD1000 platform that significantly enhance the end-to-end reliability of technically complex telepower networks.
