Abstract
Personal communication services introduce a new philosophy in the telecommunications world: to associate communications to individuals, rather than to terminals or network accesses. It may be summarized by the concept of personal mobility. To implement such a concept, a set of advanced network capabilities is required. The intelligent network and the information network architecture can adequately provide such capabilities. The concept of personalized service is reviewed, considering its evolution from a follow-me-based implementation to personal communication systems. Personalization classes and methods to implement them are described
