Abstract :
R&D management is a crucial area for modern organizations since R&D plays a critical role in creating and sustaining competitive advantages. Allocating scarce resources among a variety of projects is a continual challenge for R&D management. In this paper a bidding mechanism is proposed to select an appropriate R&D project portfolio without violating the obligatory resource constraints. The bidding process is virtually a multi-round auction for R&D resources. An example with several R&D projects is used to illustrate the proposed bidding mechanism for selecting R&D project portfolios
