Abstract :
Power electronic circuits are networks composed of electronic components and semiconductor devices. Usually, the analysis of power electronic circuits is performed by numerical simulation. For evaluating the effect of different initial conditions or parametric variation over the circuit operation it is necessary to perform exhaustive simulations and tests. However, even by doing this, there is no guarantees of the full correctness of the results, because it is necessary to simulate the system for an infinite number of operating conditions. The goal of this paper is to use formal methods to study power electronic circuits. This is made by introducing a procedure to obtain hybrid automata from a power circuit, introducing the possibility to model time varying sources in the circuits components, and implementing formal verification and controller redesign procedures. We use the formalism of hybrid automata to represent the behavior of circuits because they can capture naturally a wide range of circuit behavior and moreover, provide a framework suitable for the verification problems we work.
