Abstract
This paper is mainly devoted to the analysis of feeding algorithms, that can be successfully used for road vehicles. Based on the assumption that traction drives for those vehicles must privilege saving of energy and high energy recovery capability, authors compare performances of traditional FO with another feeding algorithm defined as PT (peak torque). For exhaustive exemplification, reference is made to saturated operations of traditionally designed asynchronous traction motors. Results of numerical and theoretical analysis show that PT algorithm is more profitable for application in traction drives for road vehicles. Experimental results, carried out by a sample drive, support theoretical results.
